The Leeni variety is a spring barley that has been repeatedly used in comparative trials as one of the standards of Estonian breeding. This variety demonstrates yields close to the average indicators of the varieties participating in the trials.
In studies focused on seed-borne infection infestation, the variety showed resistance: minimal plant infestation with loose smut and the absence of leaf stripe symptoms were noted.
