The variety is a two-row winter feed barley. Genetically, it was derived from a combination of parental lines California and NSL07-6654. The plant is characterized by early maturity, a short stem, and high lodging resistance, although moderate susceptibility to straw breakage is noted.
The variety is distinguished by a high disease resistance profile, particularly to powdery mildew, as well as good resistance to brown rust and net blotch. It shows moderate susceptibility to scald. The grain of the variety is large and well-filled, characterized by stable yield under various conditions.
