Variety description

10 August 2026

The Viresa variety is a winter barley that has been used in breeding programs to create lines possessing resistance to Barley yellow mosaic virus (BaYMV) and Barley mild mosaic virus (BaMMV). In scientific literature, it is characterized as a specimen with a long, lax ear and high yield potential.

The variety is susceptible to Barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV). Modern agronomic reference books lack data on its commercial quality or agrotechnical characteristics, as this genotype is considered primarily as a tool in genetic research and locus mapping.
