The variety belongs to a group developed within the framework of a program using induced mutagenesis. Its origin is described as a complex crossing of the mutant variety Pallas using backcrossing and the incorporation of long-awned forms.
The plant is a two-row barley created for the agricultural needs of Scandinavia as a forage crop and raw material for the brewing industry. The use of a long-awned form in breeding made it possible to improve the variety's resistance to powdery mildew Blumeria graminis.
