The variety belongs to winter barley types. In agronomic practice, it is primarily known as an important source material for crossing, based on which many other varieties were developed, including GA-Luttrell and Milton.
In scientific research, the variety is used as a model organism in studying resistance to powdery mildew and barley yellow mosaic virus. The variety is capable of providing high grain yield, however, samples stored in various genetic banks may exhibit genetic heterogeneity.
