The rootstock was developed as a result of breeding work at the Crimean Experimental Breeding Station under the leadership of G. V. Eremin. It is intended for use in intensive stone fruit orchards.
The plant shares a common genetic origin with the VSL series of rootstocks, however, it is an independent breeding unit distinct from the VSL-2 (Krymsk® 5) rootstock.
