The rootstock is a hybrid of commercial tomato and the wild species Solanum habrochaites. Its use is aimed at improving the characteristics of grafted plants and ensuring protection of the root system against soil-borne pathogens, including Fusarium.

Grafting onto this rootstock may affect the development of the scion by changing the size, number of fruits, and their biochemical composition, including acidity level and dry matter content. Studies have noted a possible decrease in trans-lycopene content in scion fruits. The rootstock shows low resistance to certain species of root-knot nematodes, including Meloidogyne luci.
