Variety description

The plant is a compact shrub 1.25–1.5 m in height and width. Leaves are broad, ovate, serrated, dark green, acquiring a reddish or reddish-brown hue by autumn. Inflorescences are spherical; on acidic soils they turn deep blue, while on neutral or alkaline soils they turn violet, pink, or purple.

Flowering occurs in July–August, and the variety is capable of blooming on lateral shoots. The plant belongs to USDA hardiness zones 6a–9b and requires protection of flower buds in cold regions. Compared to other representatives of the species, this variety is less susceptible to sunburn provided sufficient watering.

The variety is used in borders, mixed flower beds, and container gardening. It is also valued as a cut flower crop suitable for dry floral arrangements.
