The plant possesses a compact habit and dense, glossy leaves. It belongs to the mophead type of hydrangea varieties with globe-shaped inflorescences.

Flower color varies depending on soil composition: in alkaline areas they are bright red, while in acidic soils a soft violet hue appears.

Historically, the variety has been used in ornamental gardening, including both open-field and pot cultivation.
