The shrub reaches a height of 1–1.5 m and a width of 0.8–1.3 m with an annual growth of about 30 cm. The plant's shoots are upright and colored reddish-brown. The leaves are large, leathery, and of a bright green shade.

The spherical inflorescences reach a diameter of 20–30 cm. The flower color varies from bright pink and red on neutral or alkaline soils to blue and purple on acidic soils. Flowering begins in June–July and continues until early autumn.

The variety is thermophilic with winter hardiness in the range of -18...-20°C, which requires mandatory covering for the winter. Flowering occurs on the previous year's shoots, so it is important to preserve them during pruning.
