The shrub reaches a height of 1–1.25 m. The main decorative element is the foliage with a distinct, irregular golden-yellow marginal variegation.

The inflorescences are of the lacecap type: fertile flowers are located in the center, and sterile flowers are at the edges. The color of the sterile flowers depends on soil acidity, changing from pale pink to bluish. The flowering period begins in early summer and can last until autumn.

Like other varieties of the species, the plant requires protection from severe frosts to preserve flower buds, which form on the previous year's shoots.
