The shrub reaches 2 meters in height and is characterized by thin shoots and matte foliage. The inflorescences are of the 'Mophead' type. The flower color varies from pink to light blue depending on soil acidity; as they fade, the inflorescences take on a greenish hue.

The plant belongs to forms that bloom on previous year's shoots. The variety is thermophilic and requires winter covering in cold climatic conditions. Due to its rarity, structural characteristics, and ornamental quality inferior to modern varieties, it is of primarily historical value.
