Variety description

The plant forms a compact, dense, rounded, and heavily branched shrub 0.5 to 1.5 m in height and 0.5 to 1 m in width. Growth rate is medium to relatively slow. Leaves are dark green, and may acquire reddish-purple hues in spring.

Flowers are gathered in dense spherical inflorescences. Coloration changes during the flowering process: buds have a reddish-pink hue, upon opening flowers become dark pink with white veins, and by the end of flowering they acquire a deep red color.

The variety blooms from late spring or early summer until autumn. It prefers semi-shaded locations, and fresh, moist, well-drained acidic or neutral soils. Winter hardiness is down to -15°C.
