Compact shrub with a height of 0.7 to 1.8 meters. Leaves are opposite, ovate, with serrated margins and pubescence, having a characteristic texture with prominent veins. In autumn, foliage can acquire a golden hue.

Flowering begins with large spherical buds, opening into flat or dome-shaped corymbose inflorescences. Flowers are white-pink; marginal sterile flowers are larger than the central fertile ones. Late-flowering variety, blooming from late July to October.

Plant is winter hardy down to -17°C, blooms on current year's growth, therefore wood frost damage is not critical. Requires partial shade, acidic humus-rich soils, and protection from cold winds. Dried inflorescences remain on branches throughout the winter period.
