Evergreen plant with a pyramidal crown shape and a moderate growth rate of about 10–15 cm per year. The main decorative feature is the variegated foliage, which has a dark green center and a golden-yellow margin. New leaves and shoots exhibit a characteristic burgundy-red hue at each of the 3–4 growth flushes per year.
The plant is female, blooming in May-June with small white flowers. To form berries, the presence of a male pollinator plant is required. The variety possesses winter hardiness down to -23°C, is resistant to wind and deer, and tolerates pruning well. It prefers drained humus soils with a wide pH range.
Used in landscape design for creating hedges or as solitary plantings. The plant's fruits are poisonous to humans, but serve as food for birds during the winter period.
