The variety was selected as part of a project to study local walnut populations in Slovenia, based on the evaluation of samples from various regions of the country. Work on selecting promising genotypes was carried out by specialists from the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana.

This variety is officially registered in the state register of Slovenia. Its mother stock is maintained at a specialized experimental station in Maribor, which provides nurseries with planting material for the further distribution of the crop.
