The VZ5 variety possesses high susceptibility to common walnut diseases, including anthracnose (Gnomonia leptostyla) and bacterial blight (Xanthomonas arboricola pv. juglandis). In specialized publications, this genotype is often cited as an example of a plant extremely vulnerable to these pathogens.
