The Californian-bred variety is characterized by a lateral fruit-bearing habit, ensuring high productivity of young trees. The nuts are large, with a thick shell and a tight seal that protects the kernel from pests. Kernel turnout is 50–60%; it features high flavor quality and a light color, though it may darken when grown in hot climates.

The variety is adapted for industrial and private orchards, especially in regions with hot summers. When cultivated, the variety shows susceptibility to bacteriosis and codling moth infestation, which requires protective measures. Vina is also frequently used in breeding programs as a parent form for creating new hybrid varieties.
