The variety is used in industrial vegetable production as a rootstock for grafting watermelon. It possesses resistance to Fusarium wilt caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. niveum, although it may show susceptibility to the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita.

The use of this rootstock affects the quality parameters of the scion fruit, including sugar levels, organic acid content, and total yield, which depends on the specific rootstock-scion combination. The variety is included in the list of reference Lagenaria varieties for conducting international variety trials.
