Variety description

The plant is a compact, dense shrub 40–60 cm tall with narrow, aromatic, grey-green leaves. The variety is also known by the name Madrid Blue and is used primarily for container gardening and borders.

Flowering begins in late spring and is characterized by the appearance of dense, oblong heads consisting of small dark purple or blue flowers topped with prominent creamy-white bracts. The plant attracts pollinators well and is suitable for cutting.

The variety is drought tolerant once established, but is extremely sensitive to waterlogging, requiring good drainage. In terms of frost resistance, it belongs to zones 7b–9b, being less winter hardy compared to Lavandula angustifolia.
