The plant forms a rounded, densely branched bush 35–45 cm tall with grayish-green foliage. The flowers are gathered in dense spike-like inflorescences of dark purple color, resembling pine cones in shape.

The variety is early-flowering and can bloom in the year of sowing, maintaining its decorative quality from June to September. The inflorescences possess a strong aroma and are suitable for cutting and drying.

The plant is drought-tolerant and prefers good drainage, as it is sensitive to waterlogging. Depending on the region, it can be grown as an annual or perennial and is adapted to USDA hardiness zone 8.
