The variety is a compact shrub 0.3–0.5 m in height with a dense growth habit. The main distinguishing feature is the twisted leaves: young shoots have glossy burgundy leaves that become dark green over time, and acquire an intense red color by autumn and winter.
Flowering occurs at the turn of May and June, when white flowers appear on the plant, gathered in hanging racemes. The variety belongs to USDA winter hardiness zone 6a and requires light covering during extreme temperature drops. Compared to the «Curly Red» variety, it is distinguished by a more compact and dense habit and a smaller leaf size.
