The variety belongs to the LA hybrids. Stem height is 110–130 cm. Large flowers reach 18–20 cm in diameter. The number of buds formed directly depends on the size of the planted bulb: with a size of 18/20 cm, 5–7 buds are formed, and at 20+ cm — 7 or more.

The variety is mid-season, the forcing period takes 90–100 days. The plant has good disease resistance and cold hardiness; bulbs withstand temperatures down to -35°C, provided there is protection in regions with harsh climates. The flowers are distinguished by intense coloration and good transportability.

Representatives of the variety are characterized by the absence of a pronounced scent. Unlike Oriental hybrids, to which Cortona is sometimes erroneously attributed, this LA hybrid possesses a high growth rate.
