The Alba variety belongs to the fiber flax category. Studies show that the fiber content in the stems of plants of this variety ranges from 22.7% to 29%. There is data on conducting breeding experiments using the genetic material of this variety to obtain lines resistant to pathogens.

Alba variety plants are characterized as moderately susceptible to Fusarium infection. In scientific practice, in vitro anther culture methods were used to obtain regenerants demonstrating increased resistance to Fusarium wilt, an example of which is the Alba 1000 line.
