The Gaza variety is tetraploid (4n) and belongs to the mid-early group. In trials, green mass yield is 13–15 t/ha, and dry matter yield is 2–3 t/ha. The forage is noted for its high nutritional value: crude protein content in dry matter reaches 25–27%, and the elevated sugar content ensures good palatability.

The plant possesses biological resistance to lodging and winter hardiness; it is capable of rapid regrowth in the spring period and after cutting. The variety is intended for hay and haylage production, use in grass mixtures, and as a green manure cover crop.
