The variety is a tetraploid perennial ryegrass with dark green leaves and a highly branched root system. The plant belongs to the short-growing semi-erect type and is characterized by high sward density, typical of diploid varieties.

The variety possesses high winter hardiness and the ability to grow under conditions unfavorable for the crop. The plant is resistant to diseases, in particular to rust, and regrows quickly after mowing.

Mathilde is intended for the establishment of long-term pastures and hayfields, including intensive use for silage or hay production. The variety adapts well to lowland areas, provided there is sufficient moisture and soil fertility.
