The Riikka variety is a diploid (2n) form of perennial ryegrass. It is intended for use in forage grass mixtures for hay, silage, or pasture establishment.

The plant possesses high winter hardiness, due to the ability to accumulate soluble sugars during the overwintering period. The variety demonstrates good nutritional value and is characterized by active regrowth after cuts.
