In international classification (CPVO, Bundessortenamt), the variety Boxer is often attributed to hybrid ryegrass (Lolium × hybridum), characterized by a very dark leaf color and medium-late or late heading dates. In some sources, this variety is classified as perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne).
In the Russian register, the variety Boxer is registered as perennial ryegrass. It is characterized by an early heading date, medium or tall plant height, good winter hardiness, and low susceptibility to snow mold. Seed yield is up to 13.0 c/ha with good threshability.
The variety is used as a forage crop and as part of grass mixtures, including lawn covers. Due to differences in the species classification of the variety in different countries, for agronomic purposes, it is recommended to verify the species identity according to the supporting documents for a specific seed lot.
