The variety is a hybrid obtained by crossing perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne) and Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum). The crop is traditionally used for forage production, in particular for mowing.

The variety is included in the official lists of recommended varieties of agricultural plant species of the European Union and in regional lists of forage grasses.
