The variety is a compact, bushy, spreading or cascading shrub with arching branches, reaching a height of 0.9–1.2 m. The plant features evergreen or semi-evergreen small, rounded foliage of a golden-yellow or chartreuse color.
Flowering occurs in late spring with small, fragrant, creamy-white flowers, which may be followed by inedible violet-blue berries. The variety is relatively low-maintenance, prefers sunny locations or partial shade, well-drained soils, and is frost-hardy in zones 5–7.
