The variety has a semi-erect growth type and a later development cycle compared to local Uruguayan varieties. The plant shows tolerance to root rots and is adapted to drought conditions, but is sensitive to high levels of aluminum in acidic soils.
A forage crop intended for pasture use and haymaking, it demonstrates good productivity, especially in the second year of life. It contains condensed tannins that prevent bloat in livestock. It was used as a genetic base in the breeding of the INIA Rigel variety.
