The Lotanova variety was bred from the local variety Lotara. In terms of morphological characteristics and growth type, it is close to the Oberhaunstaedter variety.

In comparative trials, the variety demonstrates higher yield than the Leo variety. The tannin content in the biomass is higher than that of the Leo variety and is at the same level as the Georgia 1 variety.

The plant possesses drought tolerance due to a well-developed taproot system and demonstrates good adaptability to various soil types, including poor ones.
