The variety belongs to the determinate growth type; plants do not form lateral shoots and reach a height of 70–75 cm. Due to the self-terminating growth type, uniform ripening is ensured, and the tendency of pods to crack and seeds to shatter is reduced.

Taper is one of the earliest maturing forms of yellow lupine. It belongs to the “sweet” varieties with a reduced alkaloid content, suitable for use as feed, and possesses resistance to anthracnose.
