The variety is a mutation (sport) of the Gala variety, also known as Harry Black Gala. It is a dessert apple tree whose fruits ripen in early October. The tree is characterized by vigorous growth, similar to standard varieties of the Gala group.

The fruits have an orange-red blush over a yellow background and possess a flavor close to the classic Gala variety, but with denser and firmer flesh. The variety is characterized by good keeping quality during storage, however, it shows high susceptibility to fire blight.
