The variety represents a group of local autochthonous forms from the central Apennines, described in historical pomological treatises. The tree is productive but prone to alternate bearing; it prefers mid-to-high hilly regions. It is partially self-fertile; for increased yields, pollinators such as the Golden Delicious variety are recommended.

The fruits are medium to medium-large in size, flattened-spherical in shape, with smooth, waxy, greenish-yellow skin and a pinkish blush. The flesh is aromatic, very sweet, with low acidity and specific glassiness. The harvest takes place in mid-October; the fruits are suitable for long-term storage.

The variety is sensitive to parasitic attacks, including aphids, scab, and powdery mildew, and also does not tolerate water stress. It is traditionally used for fresh consumption during the winter period and in local culinary applications.
