The variety originates from the Umbria, Tuscany, and Marche regions. The name is associated with the characteristic shape of the fruit's calyx cavity. The tree has moderate growth vigor and is self-fertile.
The fruit is small in size, elongated, truncated-conical in shape with yellowish skin covered with russeting. The flesh is ivory-colored, firm, crisp, sweet, and aromatic.
Maturation occurs in November. The variety has good keeping quality, allowing the fruit to be stored until the end of winter. In addition to fresh consumption, the apples are suitable for making juices and jams.
