Under the trade name «Early Golden», the Golden Supreme variety is often implied. Its fruits have greenish skin, sometimes with a pink blush, a round shape, and firm, crisp, slightly tart flesh. These apples are intended for fresh consumption.

Another option is a historical variety discovered in 1890 in West Virginia. This is a vigorous tree, prone to biennial bearing and possessing resistance to rust. The fruits have a conical shape, a golden-yellow color with a bright blush, and sweet, juicy flesh with honey-pear notes.
