The variety is one of two traditional local apple varieties in Cyprus. Its main cultivation area is the Troodos mountain region, characterized by a cooler climate, where irrigation is critical for the successful cultivation of the trees.
The harvest takes place in autumn, often coinciding with harvest festivals in October. The fruits are widely used in processing: they are used to make apple syrup, vinegar, chips, jams, and traditional alcoholic beverages.
