The variety is a chance seedling discovered in France around 1770. The tree has medium to high vigor, forming a compact pyramidal crown. Depending on the rootstock, the plant height is 2–4 meters.
The fruits are medium-sized, flat-round, and have smooth shiny skin of a light yellow lemon color, sometimes with a pink blush. The white flesh is firm and juicy, possessing a wine-sour taste. The variety is versatile: suitable for fresh consumption after storage and for various types of industrial processing.
The variety is characterized by high hardiness in high-altitude conditions and mid-latitudes. In warm climatic conditions, the tree shows resistance to diseases; however, susceptibility to apple canker is noted on damp and cold soils.
