The variety is a summer type; the fruits are characterized by their large size and an almost completely red overcolor. The flesh is soft and sweet, possessing a distinct spicy aroma reminiscent of pear or pineapple. The fruits are intended for fresh consumption, and their consumption period is short.

The tree is noted for good winter hardiness, health, and high yield. The origin of the variety is linked to a seedling that arrived in Finland in the early 19th century via Denmark and became widespread at the Louhisaari manor.
