Variety description

The variety is a processing type and is not used for fresh consumption. The fruits ripen in the early-mid season, in early or mid-September. They are small or medium in size, yellow in color with a possible pink blush, have creamy, spongy flesh, and an oily skin upon ripening.

The apple juice is characterized by a high tannin content and an aromatic fruit profile. The fruits have poor keeping quality and require processing within two weeks after harvest. The tree is of medium vigor with a spreading crown, prone to biennial bearing. It is a diploid self-incompatible variety.

The plant is susceptible to apple scab and very sensitive to fire blight. The fruits are prone to dropping quickly after ripening, so the variety requires careful orchard management. A separate variety, Petit Nehou, close to this variety, is sometimes mentioned in literature.
