Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety originates from the Bergisches Land region and has been mentioned in literature since the first half of the 19th century. The fruits are considered 'kraut' apples and are used for making apple kraut, as they do not disintegrate too quickly when cooked. Harvest maturity occurs in mid-October, and consumer qualities are maintained until January-February.

The fruits have a sweet taste without pronounced acidity, but are prone to becoming dry and mealy quickly. The trees are vigorous, with a wide spreading crown and drooping branches, and enter the bearing period late.

The variety possesses resistance to powdery mildew and apple tree canker; under unfavorable conditions, it may show slight susceptibility to scab. Currently, it is considered a rare, endangered variety.
