The variety belongs to the heirloom category and has been historically cultivated in the Minho region. The tree is characterized by strong wood. In high humidity conditions without treatments, minor manifestations of rust on the leaves are possible.

The fruits are small in size, with thick skin, firm yellowish flesh, and a sweet-and-sour taste. The apples have high keeping quality and can be stored for a long time without special refrigeration equipment.

The variety is traditionally used for fresh consumption, culinary processing, particularly baking, and for cider production.
