The tree is distinguished by a narrow or slender inverted pyramidal crown. The variety belongs to the group of autumn apple trees and is valued in the region for its high winter hardiness. The productivity of the variety is usually low; fruiting is often described as sparse.

The fruits have a sweet, aromatic taste, which has historically been compared to the spicy flavor of "monpensier" drops. The fruit flesh is moderately juicy, and the shape of the apple resembles a pear, which is reflected in the name of the variety, which translates as "Reval Pear Apple".
