The variety is a clone of the Erwin Baur apple selected for its intense coloration. Unlike the original variety, which has yellow skin with an orange blush, the fruits of Roba are almost entirely red and have a less sticky surface. The tree itself is characterized by moderately vigorous growth.

The medium-sized fruits contain cream-colored, juicy, and fairly firm flesh with an aromatic sweet-and-sour taste. Harvesting begins in early October; the storage period in cold conditions is about one month. The variety is used both fresh and for juice production.
