The variety was discovered by the gardener Richter in a garden near Hohenheim and first described in 1854. The tree is characterized by its small size and good adaptation to the climate and sandy soils of Western Jutland.

The fruits of the variety possess a pronounced sweet taste. From an agrotechnical perspective, the variety is characterized by high susceptibility to scab and spider mite infestation, however, it possesses resistance to fruit tree canker.
