The Ruzza tree has moderate vigor and a spreading canopy. The variety demonstrates high endurance and regular yields, and is adapted to hilly terrain conditions. Harvesting takes place in October.

The fruits are medium-sized, round, slightly flattened, and often asymmetrical. The yellow-green skin is almost entirely covered with a characteristic "rusty" russeting. The white flesh is firm, juicy, with a distinct aroma and a sweet-and-sour taste. The fruits have good keeping quality, remaining preserved until spring.

Under the name Ruzza, various local forms united by the trait of skin russeting may be encountered in different regions of Italy. The variety has historical and genetic value and is included in regional genetic resource registries as endangered.
