The variety is autochthonous and of folk origin. The tree is low-stature with an upright crown. The harvest matures late, typically in October-November.

The fruits range from oblate to round-conical in shape and have an intense, almost black skin color. The flesh is firm, white-greenish, with marked aromatic properties and a slight acidity in taste. The variety has low sensitivity to fruit russeting, but may show susceptibility to rust.
