Sankt Wendeler is not an independent variety and is identical to the Wagenerapfel variety. The tree grows vigorously at a young age, forming steep scaffold branches, but growth slows down with the onset of fruiting due to high yields. The variety shows a tendency toward alternate bearing and is highly susceptible to leaf and fruit scab.

The fruits are medium-sized, flat-shaped, and have five ridges. The smooth, shiny skin becomes slightly oily upon ripening. The fruit color changes from lemon-green at harvest to yellow with a red blush. The juicy flesh has a harmonious sweet-and-sour taste and an aroma reminiscent of cinnamon and rosemary. It is a winter variety; harvesting takes place in late October, and consumer maturity occurs from November to February.
