The Sponheimer Flurapfel variety is a typical representative of commercial varieties for meadow orchards, originating from the Rhine-Moselle region. The tree forms a wide and spreading crown and exhibits high frost hardiness.

The fruits are classified as late autumn or winter, with harvest taking place in the first half of October. The apples are medium to large in size, often have five ribs, a light yellow ground color with a striped blush, and a smooth surface that becomes greasy upon ripening. The keeping quality of the fruits is about three months.
